Belarusians are “too clever” to pass casting for “elite casino”
Three young Belarusian omniscient people returned from Moscow where they had been trying to pass the casting for the elite casino “What? Where? When” on Ales Muhin’s recommendation. The selection was organized by Boris Kruk and Natalia Stetsenko who is the head of the administration of the International association of “What? Where? When?” clubs. A participant of the casting Ivan Tapchyi, 2nd year student of the chemistry department of BSU, tells us about the way the selection was performed:
Іvan Tapchyi: “There were people from St. Petersburg, Moscow and other Russian cities. It started with a training – nothing intellectual, only physical exercises. Then the standard Voroshilov windmill began. They randomly chose 6 people and invited them to take places at the table”.
Unfortunately, Kruk and Stetsenko did not like the way the Belarusians performed. We will see Maxim Malkin from Kaluga and Denis Gonchar from Odessa in the next series of the game instead of them. Ales Muhin who also visited the casting says the problem is not in the intellectual characteristics of our players.
Ales Muhіn: “Our guys performed well but they need to be bright, ingenuous and they have to demonstrate their subtle mind. They lacked the brightness necessary for TV”.
Tolerant Belarusians lacked charisma. You cannot get to a modern TV-show if you cannot sell yourself. Ivan Tapchyi continues:
Іvan Tapchyi: “You should be clever and you need to be able to invent versions, to fill in pauses in the air time”.
There is charisma in Belarusian pupils though. An alumnus of the BSU lyceum Yauhen Myadzvedzeu won in the show “Clear Heads” – the programme will be shown by ONT on July 1.
ERB managed to find Ulad Dronau – an older player form Homel – in the studio of “Your Game”. This year Ulad managed to become one of the best 12 players. But rivals took away his golden mantle rather quickly.
A Homel player Leanid Klimovich is still the most charismatic Belarusian omniscient person. The International association of clubs called him the Man of the Year and presented his a Crystal owl. But he is not invited to the elite casino anymore.
Leanіd Klіmovіch: “I have never phone or asked to play in the elite club. In the period of my playing there – from 1981 to 2003 – I got there as a result of selection or by invitations from the administration of the “Igra” company.
By the way, success in Russian intellectual TV-shows helps Belarusians in their careers. Ales Muhin won in the elite casino and became director of the “Evroset” company instead of a regular entrepreneur.
Ihar Mahanyok, captain of a Minsk intellectual team “Solaris” won the Yandex Quick Search Cup twice and is now working for its rival – the Google Company.
Yauhen Myadzvedzeu is also lucky – he will continue his studies at the faculty of law in Moscow State Institute of International Affaires.
So don’t be afraid to express yourselves in intellectual games. Who knows, maybe it’s you who journalists will be writing about soon!”
