Blast in Russia: 36 apartments destroyed (photo, video)
A blast occurred on the 7th floor of a multi-storied block of flats in Kosmonavtopv Street in Volgograd, Russia on Sunday at 7 p.m. The outer wall and all the floors down to the first one were destroyed. A fire started.
Domestic gas exploded in one of the flats, investigators say. Bodies have been found under the debris. 12 people including children were taken to hospital. The blast has destroyed 36 flats were about 100 people lived.
A terrorist act version is not being considered. A criminal case has been started in connection with ‘production, preservation, transportation and distribution of goods without observing the accident prevention rules’.
