Swamp football. Belarusians' new favorite sport
Swamp football in Belarus
Last week, a swamp football festival occurred in the Puchavičy and Lida districts. According to Lidskaya Gazeta, more than 45 teams from the Hrodna region gathered in Biarozauka.
The rules of swamp football are almost the same as those of regular football. But there are some differences. There are six players in a team, and the game consists of two halves, each lasting only 5 minutes. You can play in any shoes except army boots. You cannot change shoes during the match.
One of the most thrilling aspects of swamp football is its energy-intensive nature. With corners and free kicks taken with the hands, and the freedom to substitute as many players as you like during a match, the game is a true test of stamina and skill.
Swamp football is also called peat football because the field is covered with peat and must be kept wet.
