Manchester City player recalls beginning of his professional career in Belarus

"I started my professional career in Belarus and always chose the best coaches," said Uzbek footballer Abdukodir Khusanov in his first interview with the press service of the club Manchester City.
On January 20, the English Premier League club Manchester City announced the signing of the Uzbek national team defender.
"I'm very happy to join this team. I came here to develop, grow and win trophies with City. This is one of the best teams in football and one of the best coaches in the world works here. That's why I'm here.
I started my career with the Toshkuch team. Then I moved to Bunyodkor's academy, and from there I went to Belarus, where my professional football journey began.
When I was 18, I moved to France. I was in France and now I am here with Manchester City.
I have always chosen the best coaches. Now I have come here to work with the best," said Khusanov.
"Khusanov joined the French Lance from Belarusian club Energetic-BGU in the summer of 2023 and has established himself as one of the most exciting young defenders in Ligue 1," the English grandee's press service noted.
Who is Abdukodir Khusanov?
Abdukodir Husanov is a 21-year-old footballer from Uzbekistan. He started playing football at the age of five. Abdukodir's first football school was the club "Toshkuch". Then he moved to Bunyodkor, where he trained with boys born in 2002 [Khusanov was born in 2004 - Euroradio].
He started his professional career in 2022 in the Belarusian club Energetik-BGU.
Already in July 2023 Khusanov moved to French club Lance, where he quickly established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in Ligue 1.
On January 20, 2025, Manchester City officially announced the signing of Abdukodir Khusanov until the summer of 2029. The transfer amounted to 40 million euros including bonuses.
Energetic-BGU should receive a minimum of 269 thousand euros for the transfer of Husanov to Manchester City from "Lance".
According to journalist Narzulla Saidullayev, Khusanov's annual salary at Manchester City will be around 3.5 million euros.
In the new team Khusanov will play under number 45.
