Belarusians bought more cars in December than a year ago
Geely remains the sales leader
In December 2024, car dealers, which are part of the Automobile Association "BAA", sold 7,205 new cars.
"This is 21% more than the final sales of November 2024 and 107% more than the number of new cars sold in December 2023," said Aliaksandr Stselmakh, CEO of Minsk-Lada.
Among the reasons for this growth in new car sales, he cited the marketing activities of dealers (offering discounts, gifts, favorable financial terms), as well as increased demand from buyers.
The sales leader in the passenger car category remains the Geely (BelGee) brand. It sold 3,567 units in December 2024, accounting for 53% of all new passenger cars sold.
"Light commercial vehicles accounted for 6% of all cars sold in December, while electric vehicles accounted for nearly 8% in December. By comparison, electric vehicles accounted for only 1.8% of all vehicles sold in December 2023. This significant increase in electric vehicle sales was facilitated by both an increase in the supply of electric vehicles by dealers and the development of related infrastructure," the Automobile Association said.
