Kim Yo Jong, deputy head of the department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), was forced to give an official response via the Korean Central Telegraph Agency in connection with Aliaksandr Lukashenka's statement that he received an invitation from the DPRK leadership to meet in 2025. He said this on January 17 at a meeting on foreign trade activities.
“According to the TASS report of January 17, the Belarusian president said that various Asian countries, including the DPRK, had sent Minsk their proposals to organize summit meetings to discuss cooperation. I know well that the Belarusan side strongly hoped for contact with the DPRK at the highest level at least two years ago,” the reply reads.
The sister of the North Korean ruler draws attention to the fact that Lukashenka's statement “does not properly reflect the desire of the Belarusian side".
