The Januškievič publishing house reported that there will be no Belarusian-language Harry Potter. An agreement with the copyright holders was impossible because Belarus is under Western sanctions.

"They don't want to deal with anything Belarusian while the Republic of Belarus is under sanctions," the publisher said, emphasizing their efforts. "All our explanations that we are now under Polish jurisdiction did not work; we did what we could. We consider what happened an act of discrimination against the national culture. And this is happening in Europe..."

Januškievič believes that "our politicians and cultural diplomats" must work to solve "an important, urgent and specific problem.
