Boat disaster near Italy, 250 people missing (video)
The boat carrying about 500 migrants has caught fire several kilometers away from Lampedusa in the morning.
Northern African emigrants (probably Eritreans) made a fire on board to attract attention. As a result, 90 people died (including a pregnant woman and two small children), 250 are missing now. 155 people have been saved.

Italian President Giorgio Napolitano has announced that it is necessary to reconsider the country’s policy as regards migrants in connection with the increase of their number. The tragedy near Lampedusa is a shame, Pope Francis said. He urged to unite efforts to avoid similar tragedies in the future, Reuters reports.
