Charniauski: Monument to Lapitski will soon stand in center of Vileika
A monument to Rastsislau Lapitski, a hero of the anti-Communist resistance for the independence of Belarus will soon stand in the center of Vileika, historian Mikhas Charniauski said in an interview with the European Radion for Belarus. Charniauski: "Old and neo-communists are still in power in many small district towns. They have two tasks: to erase memory about the crimes of Moscow communists and their local servants and to erase memory about the anti-communist resistance. However, human memory is stronger than a stone. Time will come soon when the monument to Lapitski will stand in the center of Vileika".
According to the historian, only Belarusian monuments remain in Belarus. Monuments to Russian czars and Polish generals disappear, and only the Belarusian remain.
We remind that the monument to Rastsislau Lapitski was destroyed by vandals on the eve of Radonitsa (Remembrance Day).
