Communist Party's Sergei Kaliakin okayed to stage May 1 rally

The Minsk City Hall gave a go-ahead for the Labor Day rally to tale place on the Bangalore Square from 1300 to 1500 on May 1. The rally organizers, Sergei Kaliakin who heads the Belarusian Party of Communists and Alexander Bukhvostov, the leader of the unregistered Party of Labor, planned to stage a rally from the Academy of Sciences to the People's Friendship Park, but the city authorities said demonstrators could only gather at the Kulman bus stiation, which is at the outskirts of the park.


Opposition politicians and cultural figures are expected to speak out during the rally.
