Conflagration in Smalyavichy (photo, video)
The fire started at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21. A welder had to jump from the roof to escape.
The fire started in the trade centre Almi in Handlyovaya Street. Gas cutting was being done there and the heat insulation caught fire. The fire spread all around the building.
Almi employees tried to put out the fire on their own at first, rescuers joined them later. One person was injured – a welder had to jump from the roof to escape and got a craniocerebral trauma.
240 square metres of the roof got destroyed and the structure of the building was deformed. Rooms with building materials were also destroyed by the fire.
The fire was extinguished by 6 p.m. 24 fire-engines and about 50 rescuers worked on the spot. A group from the Emergency Control Ministry headed by deputy Minister Alyaksandr Hancharou arrived there too, BELTA reports.
The reason for the fire could be violation of the fire safety rules.
