Belarus female writer's book shortlisted for major international award

The shortlist for the 2023 International Literature Prize for contemporary foreign prose translated into German for the first time includes Pa Što Idzieš, Vouča? (What Is It You Seek, Wolf?) by Belarusian writer Eva Viežnaviec (real name - Sviatlana Kurs), translated by Tina Wünschmann, reports the Belarusian women's publishing initiative "Pflaumbaum" on social media.
The prize has been awarded annually since 2009 by the House of Culture of Peace and the Elementarteilchen Foundation. Winning authors receive 20,000 euros, translators get 15,000 euros.
A total of 151 works were submitted to the competition, and the jury selected eight of the best. The winner will be announced on September 9 in Hamburg.
For this very book Eva Viežnaviec received the Jerzy Giedroyc Belarusian Literature Prize in 2021. Euroradio published an audio version of the novel on its YouTube channel.
