Fate of the Ukrainian pilot Savchenko discussed in Minsk
The fate of the Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko was discussed in Minsk. It happened during a meeting of the contact group on the settlement of the situation in the south-east of Ukraine.
Savchenko has been in Russian prison since the summer of 2014. She is accused of involvement in the murder of Russian journalists in Luhansk. The verdict in her case will be announced on March 21-22, in Rostov-on-Don, the prosecution demands 23 years' imprisonment for her. Nadiya Savchenko is a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Her liberation has been demanded not only by the Ukrainian authorities, but also the European Union, the United States.
As BelaPAN reports, on March 11, the Ukrainian participamts of the contact group meeting in Minsk raised the Savchenko issue. The OSCE Special Representative Martin Sajdik did not disclose the details of the discussion. Probably, it was the issue of a possible exchange of the Ukrainian.
By the way, according to the OSCE Special Representative, the contact group had not yet reached an agreement on the exchange of prisoners of war in Donbas on the formula "all for all".
