Finland and Canada to play in World Hockey Championship finals
Semi-final matches of the World Hockey Championship have taken place in Moscow today. The national team of Finland defeated Russia – 2:1. The first goal was scored by Russian hockey players at the beginning of the first period but Finns managed to tie during the 13th minute.
The score remained till the end of the match and an overtime was announced.
Mika Koivu used the Russian goalkeeper’s mistake (Alexandr Eryomenko) and helped the team of Finland get to the final.
At the same time the national team of Canada defeated Swedes 4:1. Canada and Finland will meet in the final match tomorrow.
The hosts of the championship and Sweden will meet in a consolation match for bronze medals.
