Foreign funding axed for Belarus opposition
The opposition in Belarus is in dire straits due to the halt of funding from abroad, reports the Interfax news agency. Viktar Ivashkevich, a deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front, the actions of the opposition are not longer supported financially by foreign countries.
He said the party can't afford information campaigns ahead of street protests and has problems with paying for the office rent. Ivashkevich noted that opposition parties counted on the "mobilization of the resources from the civil community".
Alexander Milinklevich, the leader of For Freedom movement, confirmed tat foreign partners practically stopped any financial relations with the Belarusian opposition. In the view of the former presidential contender, the money should be looked for inside the country.
"There are many well-to-do people who want changes. We are getting help already, but on conditions of anonimity, of course", Milinkevich noted.
