Foreign mininstry says Belarus national is not captain of arrested plane
The citizen of Belarus who was part of Il-76 cargo plane, arrested in Thailand, was not the plane's captain, says Belarus' foreign ministry.
The plane was arrested on Saturday in Bangkok whith nearly 40 tons of weapons seized aboard by the Thai police. It was en route back to Ukraine after picking the military load from North Korea. The crew consists of 4 Kazakh nationals and one Belarusian. Russian media reported earlier that 54-year-old Mikhail Petukhov is the captain of the plane.
The crew was tried today morning by a local court which ruled to keep the men in detention for 12 days. Their lawyers are to appeal the ruling and are trying to bail them out.
