Former Nobel Prize laureate is sentenced to imprisonment in Turkey
The Turkish court has sentenced a female Kurdish politician Leila Zana, former laureate of the Nobel Prize, to two years of imprisonment for propaganda of terrorism. The “Gazeta.ru” newspaper informs about it referring to the Reuters agency.
The court of Dyarbakir took the decision in connection with a speech the politician had made during a Kurdish festival last year. She claimed that the Kurdish people had three leaders – Masud Barzoni, Jalal Talabani in northern Iraq and an imprisoned militant Abdullah Ajalan.
