Hearing of “live shield” case to start in civil court on September 25

A civil hearing of the “live shield” case will take place in Minsk and Zaslauye Court on September 25. The victims demand a compensation for material losses caused by the accident. A lawyer Vera Stramkouskaya has informed ERB about it. “There will be a preliminary hearing on September 25. The judge will ask both sides about their documents, proofs and additional demands. The sides should present proofs themselves in civil court and the court will only consider the materials”.

Let us remind you that two driving inspectors who had taken part in the organization of “the live shield” were returned guilty on June 25. However, the issue of compensation was not considered during that trial.

“The compensation for moral damage was paid during the criminal hearing and the compensation for material losses – damaged cars, etc. – will be demanded during the civil hearing. Civil hearings are separate from criminal ones”.

The driving inspectorate and the insurance company will be respondents in the process.
