Snowden gets an offer for collective political asylum
Venezuela, Nicaragua and Bolivia have granted political asylum to him.
This is a unique case, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said: “These countries said to this man: the empire is persecuting you, come here,” RIA Novosti reports.
Venezuela received Snowden’s asylum request on Monday and he will have to decide ‘where to go’, Maduro said.
Ex-CIA member Edward Snowden published details of secret programs of the U.S. secret services that were watching American and foreign citizens. He fled to Hong Kong and then to Moscow. He is still assumed to be in the transit area of Sheremetyevo International Airport. The U.S. authorities claimed that they would persecute Snowden and demand his extradition no matter what country he goes to. Many states have already refused to grant him political asylum.
