The festive Independence Day parade costs 0.2% of all the annual expenses of the Ministry of Defence, he said at a press conference on June 27.
Euroradio has found out that the annual expenses of the Ministry of Defence total 6.817 trillion roubles from the state budget. This is about 1 million 550 thousand dollars.
The Ministry of Defence is sticking to an austerity plan, the spokesman said. “Any attempts to accuse our country or Ministry of display of power and excessive expenses are a lie and provocation. The Independence Day is sacral and the parade has always been held on this day and will be held in the future.”
Over a thousand military men, 150 military machines and 30 airplanes will take part in the parade this year.
