Israeli Embassy to Belarus may be closed down
It may be done to save money.
Israel may close down eight diplomatic missions in order to reduce expenses, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said. His idea was supported by the Israeli Cabinet meeting on August 4, jews.by reports. The staff reduction may also affect the Embassy in Minsk, the website reports.
The Israeli Embassy is not giving any official comments now, BelaPAN reports. The Israeli MFA has not made any official statements yet, Israeli diplomats said.
The diplomatic representative office in Minsk was also closed down to save money in 2002. Belarusians had to go to the Israeli Embassy to Moscow back then. The diplomatic mission was restored in Belarus in 2005.
Belarus and Israel signed an interstate agreement on the visa regime cancellation in 2014.
