July 1 – denomination in Belarus
The Belarusian rouble has been denominated today. It is the third denomination of the Belarusian rouble. The first one was on August 20, 1994 and on January 1, 2000. 4 zeroes have been removed. The new banknotes were printed in 2009 and they are signed by the then head of the National Bank – Pyotr Prakapovich. Kopeks have also been introduced.
Seven types of banknotes have appeared – 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 roubles and eight types of coins– 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 kopecks and 1 and 1 roubles have appeared in Belarus this Friday, on July 1.
The banknotes printed in 2000 and the banknotes and kopeks made in 2009 will be circulating together until December 31, 2016.
