Kazakh President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has called Aliaksandr Lukashenka's proposal "nonsense." On January 7, he made another address to the nation where he mentioned that "there are calls abroad for the parties to negotiate for a peaceful solution to the issues." "What nonsense!" said Tokayev. "What kind of negotiations can there be with murderers, with criminals?" He ordered the military and police to open fire on the "terrorists" without warning.
Aliaksandr Lukashenka recently made a clear suggestion to start negotiations in Kazakhstan. He said that the protesters were "called bandits by someone," but "there are different people there." "We have to negotiate before we go too far," said Lukashenka. "And we can come to an agreement with President Tokayev." He suggested that the protesters "kneel down and ask for forgiveness from the military" and then start negotiations with the authorities. At the same time, in 2020, Aliaksandr Lukashenka did not want to negotiate with the peaceful protesters in Belarus.
However, the President of Kazakhstan did not appreciate the proposal of Minsk and does not want to hear about the negotiations. At the same time, in his address he thanked "the heads of the CSTO countries" (hence Lukashenka) for their support.
