Kebich: It was easy to work with Gaidar
Those who worked with Yegor Gaidar mainly descrbe his as the person behind radical liberal economic reforms in Russia in early 1990s. Viychaslau Kebich, the first prime minister of the independent Belarus, recalls that in Belarus-Russian relations Yegor Gaidar would always side with Belarus.
“It was very easy to work with him. Regarding Belarus, he would always step forward to the issues raised by Belarus for Russia. He deserves a lot for economic democratization. But as for economic peculiarities, he did not know them well from a practical point of view. I would say he was very strong in macroeconomics not microeconomics”.
