Lithuania detains high-ranking law-enforcement official from Belarus
The head of department at the Minsk Investigation Committee was detained at a border post when returning with his wife to Belarus from Lithuania.
tut.by reports the incident took place in the evening of September 21 at the Lithuania-Belarus border post in Medinenkai. Several dozens 9 mm Luger cartridges were found in a Belarus-registered Honda CR-V car by Lithuanian border control officials.
In the vehicle were two Belarus nationals - a husband and a wife who were returning back to Belarus from a private visit to Lithuania. The Lithuanian law-enforcement authorities did not reveal the workplace of the driver. However, tut.by quotes its sources as saying that the detainee is Dzmitry Kanaplianik, head of department at the Investigation Committee for Minsk.
