Lukashenka expresses hope for forthcoming meeting during congratulation of Benedict XVI
Alyaksandr Lukashenka has congratulated Pope Benedict XVI on the fourth anniversary of his pontificate and has expressed a hope for a forthcoming meeting.
The Belarusian leader wished Benedict XVI good health and further success in “bearing his responsible apostolic mission aimed at spreading good and mercy in the world and at helping people living on Earth”.
Lukashenka hopes that a forthcoming meeting with the Pope will promote “dynamic development of all-round relations” between Belarus and the Vatican. BelaPAN reminds that the visit of the leader of the state to Italy is appointed for the end of April.
According to the head of the presidential press service Pavel Lyohki, “the possibility of Lukashenka’s meeting” with the Pope “is being worked out”. The Reuters agency has already informed that the preliminary meeting is appointed for April 27.
