Lukashenka orders to present Alexievich’s books to Swedish Ambassador
Alyaksandr Lukashenka met ambassadors in Minsk a day before his speech at Drobysh’s concert where he announced that the Nobel Prize laureate ‘was slinging mud at Belarus’. The ambassadors and the President planted trees in honour of the 70th anniversary of the end of the WWII and the foundation of the UN. Swedish Ambassador Martin Oberg congratulated Belarus and its leader on the Nobel Prize during an informal conversation.
"Only on this?” asked Lukashenka and calmed Mr. Oberg right away: “Do not worry, I am joking.”
The Swedish Ambassador tried explaining that it was a great event in Sweden. The prize ‘stirred our public’, Lukashenka replied:
"Everyone started thinking about that Nobel Prize and Lukashenka’s attitude to it. To tell you the truth, I would not know much about her but for the prize. They say that she is an oppositionist. She isn’t. She just has her own opinion and it existed in the Soviet time too. Everyone can have their own opinion. She did not call anyone to barricades…”
"Well, I also need to read her books,” Mr.Oberg confessed with restraint.
"There are not many of them,” Lukashenka reassured him. “I can present the five books to you. You can read well in Russian, can’t you? Uladzimir Uladzimiravich (addressing Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei), please present the latest edition to the ambassador on my behalf.”
Drobysh’s concert was appointed for the following day…

Шведскі амбасадар спрабуе ўдакладніць: маляў, гэта вялікае шведскае свята! Лукашэнка ў адказ заўважае, што прэмія "страсянула нашу грамадскасць":
"Усе пачалі думаць, гэтая Нобелеўская прэмія, а што гэта такое, як там Лукашэнка да гэтага паставіцца? Вы ведаеце, калі б вы не прысвоілі, паміж намі кажучы, Нобелеўскую прэмію, то я б і не ведаў яе так. Кажуць, яна апазіцыянерка нейкая, а я не чуў пра гэта. Таму вы не слухайце што там, апазіцыянерка — не апазіцыянерка. Ніякая яна не апазіцыянерка. У яе ёсць сваё меркаванне. Яно было і ў савецкія часы гэтае меркаванне. Ну, кожны чалавек мае права меркаванне гэтае мець пры сабе і выказваць. Ну яна на барыкады нікога не клікала..."
"Паміж намі, я таксама мушу прачытаць яе кнігі", — сціпла прызнаецца спадар Оберг.
"Іх не так шмат, — суцяшае Лукашэнка. — Я вам магу падарыць пяць гэтых кніг і вы іх прачытаеце. Вы ж на рускай добра чытаеце? Уладзімір Уладзіміравіч (звяртаецца да міністра замежных спраў Макея), ад майго імя падарыце паслу апошняе выданне".
А на наступны дзень быў канцэрт Дробыша…
