Matolka vs. BT: Sentence to be pronounced today
The Supreme Court will announce its decision in Anton Matolka and BT’s case today. The National State Broadcasting Company violated his author’s rights, the photographer believes.
The case has been considered for several months. Matolka photographed northern lights in Belarus in March and uploaded the picture to the Internet. Several Internet resources asked the author for permission to use the photograph while BT used it without permission.
There were several funny moments during the trial. BT’s statute is more important than the copyright law, a BT representative claimed at one of the hearings. The northern lights are a social event, the BT’s lawyer announced later.
The photographer demands 0.01 kopecks as a compensation for moral damages from the broadcasting company.
