A memorial in honour of Ihnat Hrapavitski opened in Kahanavichy

A memorial dated for the 190th anniversary of Ihnat Hrapavitski has been installed in the village of Kahanavichy (Verhnyadzvinsk District). The manor of Hrapavitskis used to be there but it was burnt down after the October Revolution. Ihnat Hrapavitski is known as one of the people who worked on the project of the abolition of serfdom, researcher of the Belarusian folklore and the author of one verse – “Dzvina”.

An idea to hold annual folklore meetings in honour of Hrapavitski in Kahanavichy appeared during the opening of the memorial.
