Minister of Information to meet with BAJ chairperson

The Belarusian Association of Journalists has recently applied for a meeting with the Minister of Information twice. The organization would like to discuss the changes to the Law on Mass Media that are being prepared by the corresponding state organs, BAJ chairperson Andrei Bastunets told Euroradio.
Bastunets: “We have asked for a meeting with the Minister twice. The Minister said that some changes would be made to the Law on Mass Media. He even called it a new version of the law. We would like to speak about these changes and also ask to discuss possible changes openly so that the public’s opinion could be taken into account. We also cannot neglect other issues connected with mass media – for instance, the blocking of Internet resources.”
Furthermore, BAJ is ready to suggest its lawyers’ assistance in the preparation of documents and projects affecting mass media, Andrei Bastunets said.
