Minsk refrains from commenting on Russia’s actions
Russia will introduce the border regime at the Belarusian border in Smolensk, Bryansk and Pskov Oblasts on February 7. Russian FSB director Alexander Bortnikov has signed the corresponding order (#808 of December 29, 2016). ‘Warning signs’ will be installed near our country’s border and it will be possible to cross the border in certain spots only in the allowed time.
The deacon was unexpected for Belarus. They MFA and the State Border Committee won’t comment on the issue at the moment, ONT reports.
It is not clear whether the decision was caused by Belarus’ decision to introduce a 5-day visa-free regime for citizens of 80 states arriving at the National Airport Minsk starting from February 12. There used to be no border between Belarus and Russia.
