The members of the Belarus parliament will consider the candidature of Siarhei Rumas for the post of Prime Minister on 5 October, Prime Minister's spokesman Uladzislau Sychevich told reporters on Tuesday. Rumas himself confirmed it later to Euroradio (see video). "Approval is expected on Friday," he said.
The Belarus parliament will consider the candidature of Siarhei Rumas almost one and a half months after his appointment by the head of state. He has headed the government since 18 August without a formal approval from the parliament as required by the law. The MPs in fact could eventually not approve Siarhei Rumas as Prime Minister. However, this option is highly unlikely. Under Article 84 in the Constitution of Belarus, Prime Minister is appointed by the President "upon approval by the House of Representatives."
