Opera Theater ready to host Rock Coronation festival

Not Belarus's main rock festival only. Opera Theater is also ready to become a venue for pop-singer Polina Smolova's new album launch.
Polina Smolova recently said in an interview with the European Radio for Belarus that she had plans to launch her new album at the Grand National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in Minsk.

Polina Smolova: “I know that the theater will reopen at the end of the year. We could give it a new luanch".

The European Radio for Belarus asked Opera Theater director Valery Gedroits about this statement.

“It's the first time that I am hearing this information. I have not received this proposal and we have not discussed anything like that”.

Valery Gedroits has not heard anything either about Yury Tsybin's plans to stage next year's rock coronation at his theater.

Valery Gedroits: “That's fine with me! Let them make plans. Perhaps, we will sit down and discuss it. However, we have not received any proposals”.

The idea to stage a huge rock festival at the Opera and Ballet Theater does not sound crazy to the director.

Valery Gedroits: “The world is very diverse. There are so many interesting and diverse projects. We could possibly discuss but we have not even started yet.

Although reconstruction works at the Opera Theater are in full swing, it will not be reopened by the end of this year as planned. According to Valery Gedroits, the theater will open its doors for opera fans in March 2009.

“We plan that constructors will have their work finished by January 2009. In March, we will have a new launch with a joint concert, a ballet or opera performance", Gedroits said.
