An unauthorized picket was organized in Freedom Square in Minsk on Wednesday, August 16. It was organized by several members of the civil initiative “Against lawlessness in courts and Public Prosecutor’s Office”. The women were holding a poster saying ‘Head of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus Valyantsin Sukala needs to resign!’ (it is Sukala’s birthday today, he has turned 75). They applied for permission to organize the picket but Minsk City Executive Committee has not replied, one of the picket participants Tamara Syarhei said. People in plain clothes who arrived before the women were filming the protest.
Five participants of the picket brought an appeal signed by 30 people to the President’s Administration. They demanded to put an end to lawlessness in courts and dismiss Valyantsin Sukala. Belsat was broadcasting the picket live.
