Photos, cartoons of neglectful parents hang even in canteens
The Office of the Prosecutor General has allowed the police and local councils to disseminate announcements about reckless parents. Photos of reckless parents have already been hung in the Pruzhany, Pinsk, Krupki, Malaryta and Babruisk districts. The decisions on installing the so called "shame boards" were taken by district councils, while the Office of the Prosecutor General gave an official go-ahead.
“We are looking for new opportunities in preventive actions regarding the above mentioned persons", says the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General. "We are implementing more fully the provisions in the president's decree No 18. Announcements with the reckless parents criticize their asocial behavior, also by means of their photographs and cartoons".
The announcements are hung on the territories of enterprises, on the public transport, at bus stops and even in canteens.
“Additionally, the photos of reckless parents with 'DO NOT SALE' sighns are made available at shops that sell alcohol", says Mikhail Lemiasheuski, the chief of public safety police at the Pinsk District Police Department. "The goal is to ban alcohol sales to those people".
Euroradio: “Are there many people like them?”
Lemiasheuski: “Over 100 people on the territory of the Pinsk district”.
The police officer also said that the announcements should teach ordinary people to be intolerant to reckless parents.
“We hang those lists in all public places. These people abandoned their children, abuse alcohol, while children are taken care of by state-sponsored orphanages. It means all of us pay doe these people, while they abuse alcohol”.
