Police to beef up security on Paratrooper Day
Minsk City Police Department spokesman Alyaksandr Lastouski says police patrols will be reinforced to work longer on Paratrooper Day.
Alyaksandr Lastouski: "It will not be an intense roster, but it will be adjusted in connection with the Paratrooper Day. Police squads will work more."
The Paratrooper Day is marked on August 2 in the former Soviet republic beginning from 1930. Some retired members of elite airborn forces are known to have fun in the city and bathe in fountains on this day, often under influence of alcohol.
