Polish and Czech consulates reduce issue of visas for Belarusians

The number of visas given to Belarusian by Eastern European consulates is getting smaller and smaller. The statistics has been presented by a Ukrainian Internet edition “Observer”. According to the Stefan Batory Foundation, Poland reduced the number of visas given to Belarusian by 60% in 2008 – to 110 thousands. Polish consulates have also reduced the issue of visas for citizens of Ukraine and Russia.

At the same time, new Schengen states having no border with Ukraine, Belarus and Russia have slightly reduced the issue of visas. For example, Czechia reduced the number of visas given to Belarusians in 2008 by 15% - almost to 20 thousands. Ukrainian received 10% fewer visas from Czechia and Russians received 7% more.
