Prosecutor General's Office declines to comment on case against priest Bulka

Belarus' Prosecutor General's Office has declined to comment on a criminal case that Lithuanian prosecutors opened a criminal case against Belarusian Catholic priest Juozas Bulka.

Henadz Vyartsinski, an official with the Prosecutor General's Office, told ERB that he is aware of the charges, but the agency would not comment on the matter.

 

Lithuanian prosecutors accuse Bulka of cooperation with the Soviet authorities in the 1950s. He allegedly gave away anti-Soviet guerrillas known as Forest Brothers.  

 

The priest has denied the charges.
