Vladimir Putin talked to Italian PM Matteo Renzi but was late for the meeting with Pope Francis, newsru.com refers to CatholicNews.
The Russian President came to meet Pope Francis and was 1 hour 10 minutes late. Vatican official Georg Gänswein spent 30 minutes waiting for the Russian President near the entrance. Putin’s plane landed in Rome later than expected, mass media report.
Pope Francis and Vladimir Putin also met in November 2013. Putin was 49 minutes late back then.
The two sides planned to discuss the complex of bilateral relations and topical international problems including the situation in Ukraine.
