200 signatures collected for Konstanty Kalinowski monument in Minsk
Only opposition members have signed the appeal so far.
The campaign "For installing Konstanty Kalinowski monument in the Belarusian capital" was launched in February. The civil organization "Alternative" initiated it.
Campaign leader Aleh Korban commented on the initial results for Euroradio:
"We have been collecting signatures for over a week. But the signees are mostly activists and members of the democratic opposition... You can sign the appeal on any workday in the office of the BPF Party in Minsk (Charnyshuski Street, 3). We are getting ready for visiting flats now."
They are planning to collect at least 10 thousand signatures and finish the action by the summer. The signatures will be sent to Minsk City Council and Minsk City Executive Committee. The monument is supposed to be installed in the public garden near the intersection of Independence Avenue and Kalinouski Street.
