9% of BPF and 48% of "Tell the Truth" candidates are rejected
A "forgotten" car, signatures collected in a wrong way and even conviction are among the reasons for registration refusals.
Euroradio has counted that more than 90% of BPF candidates have passed the registration. Alyaksei Yanukevich is among the registered candidates. The reasons for the refusal are wrong income statements. One BPF candidate was still a convict.
A bit more candidates have been rejected in the party of the left "Fair World". Its leader Syarhei Kalyakin says that 22 party members will continue their participation in the election. 16% have been rejected.
It was much easier for political parties to promote their candidates in comparison with civil associations. There were party lists and no signatures had to be collected. The United Civil Party had 48 candidates. 35 of them have been registered by election committees. 23% have been rejected.
Civil associations and movements had to collect signatures for their candidates - one thousand signatures per candidate. Rejected lists of signatures were the main reason for registration refusals.
5 or 7 of the 45 candidates supported by the movement "For Freedom" have been rejected. The leader of the organization, Alyaksandr Milinkevich, is among them. Candidates of "Tell the Truth" have suffered most. 12 of 25 candidates have been rejected - this is more than half - 48%. Much-talked-of Pashkevich and Drako have also been rejected.
To be fair, it is necessary to note that not only opposition members have been rejected due to mistakes in signature lists. Famous doctor Alyaksei Hadorkin has also been refused because of it. He says that "elderly women could have confused something" while signing.
