Customs Union's Commission: Each country can impose customs limitations
Although it was the first time when Russian Customs heard about our limitations, they say everything's legal.
Euroradio doubted whether it was legal to
introduce limitations without coordination with other countries of the Customs
Union... However, representatives of the Customs Committee explained that this
was normal practice. Countries-participants of the Customs Union agreed on this
before.
Limitations for export of macaroni, cigarettes, petrol etc. from Belarus were
introduced since June 11. Not only Belarusians, but citizens of other
countries-participants of the Customs Union will not be able to export these
products from our country. It turned out that the Russian Customs heard about
this for the first time!
“I know nothing about
limitations, frankly speaking, this is the first time I hear something like
this”, — a representative of customs administration department of
the Customs Union Commission, located in Moscow, has told to Euroradio.
Russia's Federal Customs Service heard nothing about the limitations as well.
However, Russian customs officers assured us that each country can decide which
limitations to introduce.
Consultative department of the special customs administration: "This is possible. Such
situations are regulated by internal legislations, apart from common decisions.
The law on customs regulation in the Russian Federation prescribes introduction
of additional limitations. Anishchanka prohibited import of all the European
vegetables to Russia. So what - will he coordinate this with Belarusians or
Kazakhs?”
According to a representative of the Customs Union's Commission, Belarus,
Russia and Kazakhstan agreed on such situations before.
“There is no revolutionary
approach here. This is normal practice. Each country has a right to impose
export limitations. The same as with Russia - we introduced limitations for
export of wheat when there was hunger...poor harvest. The countries agreed on
this before. They took the decision that each country preserves the right to
introduce certain restrictive measures with regard to its own economy”.
Euroradio: Maybe, there have been some
complaints from the Russians??
Customs
service: No,
not yet..
