EU offers €2bn for Belarusian political prisoners?
It is said that Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nickolay Mladenov offered the sum for the release of political prisoners.
The Bulgarian Minister also suggested that the official Minsk should restore relations with the European Union. “Charter’97” informs about it referring to the newspaper Rzeczpospolita. According to the Polish newspaper, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has suggested publishing Lukashenka and Mladenov’s secret agreements. He is hoping to exercise influence on Belarus this way so that it would not delay the implementation of the agreement.
Let us remind you that the meeting took place at the end of August. It was reported that Mladenov had become the European Union’s go-between in relations with Belarus. The head of Bulgarian diplomats informed Catherine Ashton, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, and the EU Ministers about the results of the meeting.
