"GayBelarus": Do not expect a mass rally
The gay-parade will take place in Minsk tomorrow despite the prohibition. However, the organizers do not inform the place and the time of the action so far.
“Tomorrow we will conduct a rally for the sake of the rally, — head of the human rights defense project "GayBelarus" Syarhej Androsenka has told at a press-conference. — We are not speaking about gay marriages at all so far. This may sound sad but the Belarusian reality shows that to have an opportunity to use one's right for peaceful gatherings should be considered a victory”.
The organizers do not inform the place and time of the action so far for the
sake of security. However, they say it will be a surprise!
Syarhej Androsenka: “The
rally is planned to be held in two acts. In case the first act is disrupted,
there will be the second one. We have taken all last year's mistakes into
consideration and have prepared a new action in support of tolerant attitude to
LGBT-persons. We have prepared several surprises for the LGBT community, for
participants of the rally, for the city administration, and for the
journalists”.
Syarhej Androsenka has underlined that tomorrow's rally is not expected to
change the political system in the country or to destroy homophobia totally. “We
are coming out to hold a public peaceful action in support of tolerant attitude
to the LGBT people and to preserve the rights which already exist",
— the organizer of the parade says.
Let us remind you, the seventh Minsk
gay-pride has been conducted in the capital for a week already. At present
moment, about a thousand people have taken part in the pride's events.
“I think that this is a very essential number
of people for Minsk
- a sad, discreet and absolutely passive city”, — Androsenka says.
