Ministry of Education: We'd announce prices in May, but they change daily

Education at the dentists' faculty of the Belarusian State Medical University will cost 7 million 980 thousand roubles, which is almost 500 thousand roubles more than last year.

Medical University: “Therapeutical, Pediatrics, Pharmaceutical faculties - 6 million 820 thousand Br, dentists' faculty — 7 million 980 thousand Br. Medical-prophylactics faculty - 6 million 210 thousand Br”.

According to a representative of the admission committee, prices for paid education in the Medical University have become known 10 days ago.

Medical University: “We gave approximate numbers on the Open Doors Day. For example, education at the Therapeutical faculty used to cost 6 million 380 thousand Br in 2010, and it has become 6 million 820 thousand. As for the dentists' faculty, the price is 7 million 980 thousand, while it used to be 7 million 490 thousand. You see, the prices have not changed drastically…”.

There have been no cases when the future students withdrew their documents or made any noise when they found out about the new prices yet.

All the other universities still don't have the final prices. They will be announced on August 2. The difference is because the Medical University belongs to the Ministry of Health Care, not to the Ministry of Education.

A representative of the admission committee of the Belarusian state economic university says that they have filed a project to the Ministry.

BSEU: “The Ministry of Education should approve the prices and promises to do it on August 2. We filed the project... We tell an approximate sum to the applicants for entry - about 4 million 800 thousand. The price has not grown essentially in comparison with the last year".

As for the Belarusian State University, the prices for paid education will surpass last year's by only 11%.

BSU: “We tell our applicants for entry that the price will increase by 11% in comparison with last year, as the rector informed. However, this is preliminary information”.

Representatives of the President's Academy of State Administration say that the price for education will be approximately 6 million. 

“We give this information to those who ask how much they will have to pay. It has not been published at our web-site yet, but we have the rector's order. We consult those who will surely try to enter our academy. The price will be about 6 million, which is higher by about 20% in the average, as we planned”.

Euroradio has talked to the head of the administration for social and economic development of the Ministry of Education Iryna Bebeh. According to her, all the prices will become known on August 1. She claims that they could not reveal this information before because of the economic situation in the country, as prices grow daily.

"We have taken such decision. Prices change every day now. The project of budget for the next year does not exist yet. So we decided, in order the prices are more precise, so that they don't change afterwards, to establish them in July. We will provide information in this regard on August 1.
We could have approved the prices back in May, but payments for communal services increased for this time period. So what? Shall we sat that prices will be like this or that and then, on September 1, tell the new prices when the children come to study?…".
