Ousted Kyrgyz president Bakiyev says he does not accept his resignation
Kurmanbek Bakiyev today said in Minsk that he is not accepting his resignation from the post of the president of Kyrgyzstan.
He stressed that the recent revolution in Kyrgyzstan set his country back for decades.
Bakiyev noted that he feels responsible for the country's catastrophe and is ready to account for the turmoil under the law. "But this does not mean that I am ready to give up to the bandits and abandon my people", he said at the headquarters of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Minsk.
Bakiyev also expressed his condolences to the relatives of those killed during the unrest.
Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenka yesterday admitted that he had ordered his secret services to organize Bakieyv's trip to Minsk.
