Pavel Vinahradau released, charge to be "elaborated"
The "Tell the Truth! activist is accused of swearing in public in Yasenin street in Minsk. The policemen gave such evidence.
Let us remind you, Vinahradau served 10
days of detention by March 2 for the "toy protest action". Instead of
being released he disappeared. Today he was delivered to the Maskouski district
court of Minsk. Pavel managed to inform his friends that he was taken to the
police department right from the Akrestsina Street detention center. The
policeman made a charge of detention against him there.
He stated in court that the witnesses lied. As a result, Vinahradau was
released and the policemen will have to "elaborate" the
charges.
Human rights defender Valyantsin Stefanovich says that the events may develop
in different ways: the policemen can either "elaborate" the charges
on an n urgent basis, or let the whole case go. However, there is another
danger, says Stefanovich:
"There is a danger that
the court may sentence him to preventive observation as Pavel has pending
conviction. This is more serious as he can get back to prison for such
violation...".
Valyantsin Stefanovich notes that Vinahradau's case is the "classic
variant of isolation of civil activists which has been in mass use since
2006".
