Plonk not to be removed from Minsk shops

Amateurs of plonk could easily bypass the interdiction, head of the Trade and Service Department of Minsk City Executive Committee Aksana Kanstantsinovich said.

Aksana Kanstantsinovich: “Local interdictions are not effective because they are introduced only in Minsk. Two huge hypermarkets are situated in Minsk - Euroopt and Bigzz. However, they are not situated on the territory of Minsk - they are in Minsk District and will not be affected by the interdiction. It means that anyone could use the public transport to reach them and buy everything they liked. Those who want to have a drink will always find a way to do it."

Furthermore, people who do not drink plonk may buy it in these hypermarkets to make money on it. Such people can buy cheap wine to resell it to those who cannot afford crossing the ring road when they need plonk.

The state leader's words about the little efficiency of the interdiction have nothing to do with the new decision made by Minsk City Executive Committee, Kanstantsinovich  says. However, "the reappraisal" was made on November 16, the next day after Alyaksandr Lukashenka's comments.

Minsk City Executive Committee decided to forbid selling plonk in Minsk from December 1, 2012 until February 1, 2013 on November 1.
