Police's mop-up operation at hard-rock concert in Minsk (UPDATED)

Although the Minsk club "6А" is located pretty far off from the Kastrychnitskaya Square, police made a real mop-up operation there on July 20, during the concert of the bands RЕКА, MARATHON, CHALLENGER DEEP, FACE FORWARD and ICE GRILLZ! One of the eye-witnesses, Aliaksandra, has told about this on air to Euroradio.

Aliaksandra: “There was a hard-rock concert taking place in the club 6А, it was rather peaceful. Suddenly, plain-clothed policemen stormed into the club. They started running after people, catching everyone they could. They did not react to any arguments, any demands to show their certificates and introduce themselves, they did not answer where they were taking the detainees to or any other questions”.

Euroradio: At what time did it happen?

Aliaksandra: “It happened at about 20:45”.

Euroradio: How many people did they detain, approximately?

Aliaksandra: “About seven people”.

Euroradio: These plain-clothed people did not introduce themselves and did not explain anything, did they?

Aliaksandra: “They did not. They just detained people and when someone insisted they should at least explain anything - they took him also”.

Euroradio: Where is the club "6А" located in Minsk?

Aliaksandra: “In the Partyzanski Avenue”.

Euroradio: This is rather far from the Kastrychnitskaya Square, where the protest action took place. Maybe, they decided to cover the lack of detainees like this?

Aliaksandra: “This is possible. They uttered something like someone had allegedly called them saying there had been a crowd so they arrived. But they could say nothing more.

Euroradio: Did the organizers of the concert or the club's administration do anything to clarify the situation?

Aliaksandra: “Now we are trying to find out where they took our friends to. It was senseless to ask anything at that moment”.

Euroradio: Did the concert finish on this? Did they take only listeners or musicians as well?

Aliaksandra: “Yes, the concert was over. They took a musician of one of the bands, an organizer of the concert, and some listeners”.

According to the information provided by the human rights center "Viasna", 7 people were delivered to the Lenin district police department at the minimum:Yauhen Charnichenka, Danila Tsepliakou-Shuhaley, Mikita Perahud, Aliaksandr Uperavets, Yauhen Tarasevich, Jury Rybianets and Siarhej Balovin. The reason for the detention was allegedly "alcohol checking".

According to the information from social networks, the detainees are accused of "hooliganism". They may stand trials today.
