Two passenger trains collided near the city of Zawiercie in the evening on March 3. At least 15 people died and about 60 were injuried.
One of the trains was going from Warsaw to Krakow and happened to be on the wrong lane due to unknown reasons. Another train was going to Warsaw from Przemyśl by the same lane. The railways in that area were under reconstruction, writes the portal gazeta.pl. The rescuers worked at the accident site for the whole night, PM Donald Tusk headed there. Poland's Minister of Traffic Slawomir Novak has already called this train accident "the most serious catastrophe for the recent years".
The governmental commission on railway catastrophes will clarify the reasons for this serious accident together with the investigation.
